Martin, a small bodied mahogany, was born in New York in 1937 and spent his early years playing blues. After travelling the world, he ended up in Fremantle, broken in attic above a luthier’s shop. With care and attention, Martin had a new lease of life in his mid-50’s and started making music again. His new partner, Coole, of Tasmanian and Queensland heritage, was born in Fremantle in 2011. Together, Martin & Coole perform a combination of original folk, swing, blues songs and are currently strummed, picked and plucked by Jon Cope and Emma Birkett.
